Sitting Assessment for Children with Neuromotor Dysfunction (SACND)

The SACND is an observational measure which can document the quality of sitting of children with neuromotor disabilities. It is divided into a Rest Module and a Reach Module. Four behaviours are assessed in each module: a) Postural Tone b) Postural alignment c) Postural alignment d) balance

Authors: Reid, D.  Age-Range: 2 years - 5 years
Takes 5mins for each module (rest and reach) however allow 1-1.5hrs for setting up equipment, establishing client rapport and analysing the data. NB: requires use of a videocamera. all the materials include:
  • Timer/Stopwatch
  • Videocamera & Tripod
  • Videotape
  • DVD/Video and TV/monitor for child to watch during assessment
  • Childrens books
  • Bench
  • Block for foot support
  • Mats
  • Object board (Acrylic with cut out toys attached with Velcro)
