The use of blogs by OT's

It was sometime ago last year that having been explosed to what a blog was, and what it could be, I went looking for blogs written by occupational therapists.  I was surprised (or perhaps I wasn't really) to find that when I searched on the term occupational therapy using search tools such as technorati.com that there were blogs on occupational therapy but mostly written by people who had been the recipient of occupational therapy, or whose family members had been.  Willwade's blog was the first one I found written by an occupational therapist.  Inspired by the examples I saw being used by educators in other fields such as education, and Will's this year I started my first blog!  Now not being a good journal or diary writer myself, this has been a challenge, but we're getting there...   anyway - if you are visiting Will's blog, please check out mine as well - Occupational Therapy - Educational Issues There's a whole group of us developing blogs and you can get to these blogs through my links pages at the moment!  More later...

For more OT blogs see: http://del.icio.us/metaot/blog
The del.icio.us links are a little behind at times however I aggregate all the top ones on this site for my viewing pleasure but perhaps yours too: http://metaot.com/aggregator/categories/5

May I also draw your attention to my rather controversial post "OT's on the net and more.."

New OT site / blog

Hi

I've just set up my new website and blog and would welcome any ideas about what kind of things to add to the site on a regular basis - what would other OT's find interesting?

My site is http://www.inclusion.me.uk

Please feel free to let me know what you think as any feedback would be grateully received.

new blog

Hi Matthew
Its' great to see another OT coming onto the web - well done! There are a few of us blogging now which is great to see! In terms of what people want to see - I think its a matter of keeping track of your blog stats if you can. If a posting is interesting -you will find visitors coming by more often, you may get a comment or two... and you will find people linking their blog to yours, or picking up your comments and drawing them into their own blog. Any activity like that and you know you're onto topics people are interested in! I think thought that OT's are a little reticent - we are finding with our group of blogs that there is good number reading... or at least clicking on links, but not commenting yet. As few OT's know what exists out there on the web I'm not surprised!

You may find this link useful for how to make your blog appealing..

And also its about creating a community. Back 6 months ago - Will had his blog as did Aishel I think.... and perhaps a few other OT students... now in the last six weeks, we have about 10 of us in one area all busily learning about web 2.0 tools and trying to reach out and find like minded individuals from around the world.... now we have connected with Will - you have connected with us, Aishel has pulled in as well - its the nucleus of a community as described by http://www.successful-blog.com/1/10-things-about-making-room-for-a-commu...

who knows where it could end??? Or if it ends!

quite a few!

Hi Will
So we are increasing our presence on the net!! I've just gone to your posting above and left a message and hope to have another 8 responses tonight (check out http://oteducation.wordpress.com to find more blogs!! so hope others will check out your controversial post which was great to think about..

I'm wondering if we tagged similarly on OT blogs in del.icio.us ie deli.cio.us/merrolee/OTblog whether that will help others like me who are searching for OT blogs... must also check your aggregator tonight...

Anyway..... hope others will come along soon!
